Time for another sunscreen review. This time it’s the Sand & Sky Tinted Glow Primer SPF30. I haven’t really tried a lot of things from Sand & Sky. I’ve only tried a mask from Sand & Sky previously, which I believe I enjoyed. The brand has the cutest packaging.
Sand and Sky
Have you heard of the brand Sand and Sky? I haven’t really used their products. I believe I’ve only tried the Australian Emu Apple Super Bounce Mask. As far as I remember, I did really like the Super Bounce Mask, but I haven’t finished it since I’m not the best at using masks regularly.
Sand and Sky is actually an Australian skincare brand. It’s a clean-focused brand. They have pretty cute packaging and their bottles definitely stand out.
Unfortunately, most of the Australian skincare brands aren’t as easily accessible in the United States. I have been interested in a couple Australian skincare brands, but it’s harder to purchase.
I did see that Sand and Sky had a four products at Ulta, but they were all on sale, so I’m not sure if the brand was on a trial period. I’m not sure if I have personally seen the brand in Ulta stores though.
The Tinted Glow Primer SPF was not available at Ulta, but it is available at Look Fantastic.
Sand and Sky Tinted Glow Primer SPF30
Now on to the sunscreen review! According to the website, the Tinted Glow Primer is light-weight and non-greasy, leaving a translucent rosy tint to the skin after application.
Formulation: I really liked the formulation of this sunscreen. It feels pretty good when applied. I definitely agree that it’s lightweight and easy to work with. It has hyaluronic acid, which I always appreciate. I didn’t experience a white cast on me either, not sure about the rosy tint on my skin tone.
Pilling: I’ve tried the Tinted Glow Primer several times now with different base moisturizers, and I’m afraid that it does pill over certain moisturizers. You can touch your face accidentally and some product does come off. Under other moisturizers, this doesn’t happen though so I would just test around if anything. Also, this is a part of a whole Sand and Sky lineup so using the whole system might work better for you. I only had the sunscreen though, so it was the only one that I was able to test out.
Eye sensitivity: The first day I used it, I don’t think my eyes felt any sensitivity. The second and third times on the other hand are a completely different story. My eyes were stinging to the point that I had to get a baby wipe to remove the product around my eyes. The only other SPF that I’ve had to do this for is the La Roche-Posay Anthelios sunscreen.
Price: The sunscreen is priced at $39, which is a little bit pricey considering Korean sunscreens can be purchased for less. The brand overall is a bit pricier though, and I’m not sure about whether it is harder to source ingredients and manufacture products in Australia.
Packaging: I love the packaging. It’s a cute light pink, that could be helpful if you were trying to remember to put on your SPF.
Overall Rating: 3/5
OVERALL
The Sand and Sky Tinted Glow Primer could definitely work for you if you don’t have eye sensitivity like me. Typically, I just end up using these types of products for my body since I don’t want to have to worry about my eyes stinging constantly.
I have to say that not everyone’s eyes will react in the same way that mine do. I’ve been trying out sunscreens for a while and only two SPFs have stung my eye to the point that I had to wipe all the product off in that area.
I do love how lightweight the formula is and how it doesn’t have a white cast.
If you’re interested, it’s available for $39 on the Sand and Sky website and $44 on Look Fantastic.
I have separate blog posts for products that I have purchased over and over again.
