Make P:rem is a Korean skincare brand that has been receiving increasing attention worldwide. The founders received inspiration in the Scandinavian Lifestyle focused on pragmatism and effective minimalism, creating products that are effective, yet practical with simple packaging.
Make P:rem stands for [make] [p]ragmatism [rem]edy
Although I haven’t seen this brand in physical locations in the United States (yet), it is easily accessible through Amazon, Credithink, and Yesstyle.
I love Korean beauty and skincare products. During my first Navy deployment, we visited South Korea for our first port visit, and I just fell in love with all the options available. The stores have so many brand options, with beautiful packaging. I wasn’t into skincare back then, so I don’t remember picking any up, but I did pick up some beautiful nail polishes.
This is the first Korean beauty product that I have picked up in the past decade thanks to a gifting opportunity provided by GoPicky.
Make P:rem UV Defense Me Daily Sun Essence SPF 50+
If you have read my sunscreen story, you would know that I avoided sunscreen like the plague. Mostly because I am allergic to oxybenzone and I broke out in hives. I wasn’t sure if I was allergic to SPF in general, but I only went back to it once I found out how important it truly is in our skincare routine.
The Daily Sun Essence is SPF 50+ with chemical and physical filters tackling both UVA and UVB rays. It is advertised as a non-sticky formula that provides moisture at the same time. The instructions state that the sunscreen needs to be applied at least 15-30 minutes before sun exposure and reapplied every two hours.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
I really liked how smooth it blended into my skin. It almost felt like it completely disappeared once it fully seeped into the skin. It doesn’t have a white cast on me. I have light-medium skin tone. It felt good overall, but I did get a breakout the next day and it was the only product I introduced into my skincare routine.
I wanted to note this just in case it was one of those products that ended up breaking me out, but fortunately the Make P:rem Daily Sun Essence did not give me any more breakouts. It may have been caused by stress or that time of the month. Some days, I forget to put on sunscreen, and it was easy enough to blend on the go.
Would I Purchase the Make P:rem Daily Sun Essence?
As I previously mentioned, I did receive the product as a gift in exchange for an Instagram post and a review on GoPicky. What I do like about that platform is that I am able to provide honest reviews on their platform in exchange for product. I get to try products that I would never have thought to pick out myself without having to compromise my voice.
I wrote all of that to say that I definitely would repurchase this product. I am actually thinking of gifting my brother this sunscreen too since he is extremely acne prone and I feel like it is gentle and moisturizing enough that it wouldn’t irritate his skin.
It is currently $27.99 on Amazon and $16.99 on Yesstyle. I haven’t personally ordered from Yesstyle yet, but I heard they always do sales, so maybe look into that.
Sunscreen Ratings
At this time, this specific sunscreen isn’t rated on the EWG’s Guide to Sunscreens, but I will check back periodically since I am planning on adding it to my sunscreen rotation. Picky does take not consideration the EWG Ingredient Safety List, and this product had 43 ingredients considered low risk and 5 with unknown risk.
Last Thoughts
I am pretty happy that I decided to try this out. I was using the Coola sunscreen previously, and although I did like that initially, I found that it began to be too heavy with periodic reapplication. On the other hand, the Make P:rem sunscreen is light enough that reapplication does not cause pilling or caking. It doesn’t feel heavy even on a sunny California day. This is probably the sunscreen that I have been reaching for the most in the month of August. It’s just a great product for oily skin like mine.
Let me know if you have tried this sunscreen and what your thoughts are.
