Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year or the Spring Festival, celebrates new beginnings based on the Lunisolar calendar. Now more than ever, it is important to celebrate such holidays in the United States, traditions that serve as a reminder of the beauty of culture within communities. This year is slated as the Year of The Snake. The snake is symbolic of several themes like spirituality and good fortune, but also threat and terror. Wishing you are able to focus more on spirituality and good fortune this year instead of the latter.

Lunar New Year Beauty Releases
When I still lived in the Philippines, Lunar New Year was a much bigger deal. Maybe it was the proximity to China or maybe it was the population living within the islands. When I did move to the United States, I forgot about the tradition. Writing about these important cultural traditions is so vital, even in the beauty community.
When I was doing my research on the releases, I found that some releases weren’t available in the United States. Others were so limited that the drops already sold out, but I gathered a few that were still available to purchase.
Tower 28 Red Bean Mochi LipSoftie
First, I wanted to quickly reminisce about Tower 28’s Lunar New Year Drop in 2024. It was so well thought out. I loved the packaging, with PR boxes shipped with a steamer and branded chopsticks. I was obviously obsessed. Not only was Kung Fu Panda such a big part of my childhood (I cried several times), but I thought the collaboration was just well thought out.
I am unsure about how the PR boxes were shipped this year for the Red Bean Mochi, but I thought that the launch was still cute! The shade is described as a sheer rosy nude. A shade that would most definitely suit most skin tones. I’ve tried the LipSoftie formula and I do enjoy it as well. I wish that I knew about the Mini Lip Softies Set when they were launched because I definitely missed out.
Available at Sephora and Tower28 for $16.
Clarins Double Serum Year of the Snake Set
I have emptied both the traditional Double serum and eye formula at least once. I loved the original formula and from what I have heard, the newer version is improved from before. This drop may be my favorite. The design perfectly matches the theme. I will say that it is pretty pricey, but I do think it is worth it to try at least once. My skin was happy with this one.
Available at Clarins for $242.
Laura Mercier Lunar New Year Releases
Laura Mercier dropped a limited edition of their iconic Translucent Loose Setting Powder for Lunar New Year. The packaging has the iconic red for the holiday and a flower design on top. A blush was also released in the color Infusion, a gingery nude.
Available at Sephora and Macy’s.
Lush Limited Edition
I have always appreciated Lush holiday releases. I loved the creativity of this Lunar New Year Drop. The collection is appropriately named the Serpentine Celebration, which includes a Rebirth Bath Bomb, A Swirl of Happiness Sugar Scrub, and a Sunrise Shower Gel to name a few.
Available at Lush.
Miscellaneous Releases
Oribe Lunar New Year Hair Alchemy Shampoo and Conditioner Liter Set available at Sephora.
Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum for Anti-Aging at Sephora.

Givenchy Lunar New Year Limited Edition
Last year, Givenchy launched a limited edition version of their iconic Prisme Libre Loose Powder, an exclusive Pastel Celebration with embossed red dragon scale.
A matching Le Rouge Interdit Intense Silk was also released.
I can’t say that I regularly keep track of how long Givenchy’s limited edition drops are available, but this particular line is still available on the Givenchy website.
I hope that they release a Chinese New Year collection in 2025 as well!
Last Thoughts
I don’t know if I’m late or early, but I honestly believed that there would be more releases for Chinese New Year/ Lunar New Year. I definitely saw more Valentine’s Day releases this year in comparison. Maybe it’s because I’m located in the United States. I did see a couple drops at Cbeautymall. I wasn’t entirely too keen on including those since I haven’t ordered from the site yet (though I want to place an order soon-ish!).
