January is actually flying by! It is already the middle of the month as I’m writing this. So many brands have launched in the last week (or so). I’m excited for the beauty industry as a whole as technology improves and the ability to create improved beauty and skincare products increases. It is also exciting to see certain brands incorporate concepts that are familiar. Huda Beauty launched the Ube Collection recently, described as an electric lilac collection. Ube is a purple yam that has history in the Philippines, now normalized in popular culture through donuts and drinks.

Kosas Revealer Extra Bright
I have loved the original Kosas concealer formula for years. I constantly go back to it, using it as my foundation at times. The concealer is light enough that it doesn’t make me feel cakey and pigmented enough that it gives me a good amount of coverage. Enough about my favorite though, I’m supposed to be talking about the newly released Revealer Extra Bright.
Kosas dropped the Revealer Extra Bright, a “serum-powered color corrector”. The new formula is supposed to be able to target dark circles while depuffing and brightening at the same time. It currently comes in 5 different shades, with a natural finish. I am not well versed in color correcting, but I do want to try this out despite the differences in formulation.
Available for $32 at Kosas and Sephora.
Farmacy Beauty Green Clean Whipped Foaming Cleanser + Green Clean Gentle Creamy Cleanser
If there is one type of skincare product that I would choose out of the entire Farmacy Beauty line, it would definitely be their cleansers. I would take every single product under the Green Clean lineup just because the cleansing balm is one of my favorites.
Farmacy relaunched a product formerly named Whipped Greens to the Green Clean Whipped Foaming Cleanser. I loved Whipped Greens so I know that this would work for me and my oily skin. The newly updated packaging is much more sleek in comparison to the older packaging. I like it.
The Green Clean Gentle Creamy Cleanser is the new addition to the line formulated for dry to combination skin. I am pretty curious about it. I’m not so sure that this formula would work for me though since I have oily skin and creamy cleansers aren’t necessarily my favorite for my skin type.
Overall, I continually recommend anyone to use the Green Clean cleansing balm and pick up the Whipped Foaming Cleanser if you’re oily or have combination skin.
Available for $32 at Farmacy Beauty and Sephora.
Phlur Golden Rule
Phlur just dropped a new scent called Golden Rule. It is described as a “warm, energetic floral” and “bold and magnetic.”
Top: Mandarin Splash, Pink Pepper, Golden Pear
Heart: Orange Flower Water, Jasmine Blossom, Coconut Milk
Base: Benzoin, Sandalwood, Vanilla Cream
I am not exactly the best at describing scents, I’ll just have to leave that to the fragrance influencers, but I will say that I enjoyed this one. I am actually in a gourmand era at the moment (despite being a floral girly for the longest). Despite this, I still enjoyed this scent.
Available for $99 (50ml) at Phlur and Sephora.
Native x Jarritos Limited Edition Collection
When I was browsing at Target (as one does), I just had to stop for the the Native x Jarritos display. I was never really a Jarritos drinker but I’ve always thought that the drinks were fun. The line includes Mandarin, Passion Fruit, Watermelon, and Pineapple.
I’m also not necessarily someone who likes the scent line, but the display is most definitely eye catching, the packaging a fun homage not only to the cultural importance of products like Jarritos, but also a great step towards a more accepting future as one hopes.
Available at Target.
huda beauty the Ube Collection
Now to the release that I’m most excited about -the huda beauty ube collection! First, I should probably talk about the shades and products. I think the shades are entirely too cute. The collection is described as electric lilac, which is such a color story that is seeping its way through beauty drops since last year.
More importantly, I do want to talk about how exciting this is for me. Ube was such a staple in my childhood. It just reminds me of being home.Brands are embracing different products that may not be accessible to all consumers, while at the same time pulling the heart strings of other consumers. This is definitely a marketing plan that brought joy for me.
I still remember when I saw the ube milkshake nyx gloss in Ulta. I had to have it because it said ube. See I need to test the huda beauty ube collection shades in real life to see if it even works for my skintone, but I am definitely hoping that this is the case.
Available at huda beauty and sephora.
Owala x Hearth and Hand Magnolia
The last drop that I really wanted to talk about is the collection that Owala and Joanna Gaines dropped at Target. The colors are definitely reminiscent of the Hearth and Hand line at Target, with beautiful earthy tones and neutrals.
I have been eyeing the Lily Pad color. I have been on such a sage green kick lately, and this was definitely the vibe for fellow sage green lovers. If you are more of a mocha mousse girly, then Brown Sugar is definitely the bottle for you.
Available in different sizes and shades at Target.
Last Thoughts
Yes, there are some drops that I wasn’t able to include in this blog but these are the ones that stood out to me. I probably need to pick up both the huda beauty and owala drops since both are limited edition. Also, I added a couple new things to my skincare routine that I have high hopes on.
The Luna Daily “the repair treatment” is something that I’m hoping decreases my stretch marks and scars. I am excited about this since my stomach needs some help after the weight loss and these babies. I don’t really mind them as much but if some magic could help it reshape nicely, i wouldn’t protest. I feel like they reached out to me in perfect timing since I am just starting to have a moisturized winter.
