As the world is shifting more and more into remote work, it’s important to create a setup that actually promotes productivity, while reducing stress. Here are some of the must haves for home office setups.
I have been working from home for approximately two years now, and I plan on staying that way. I spend approximately 8 or so hours facing the computer. It can definitely be tiresome having the same view day to day.
It can also get painful sitting down for extended periods. Either that or the neck strain gets to be unbearable.
Here are a couple upgrades that I have included in my work from home set up that improved my work environment and allows me to change things up from time to time.
My must haves for home office setups
The best standing desk
Uplift Standing Desk V-2 C-Frame
If there’s one thing I recommend on this home office must have list, it would definitely have to be a great standing desk.
I second guessed getting a standing desk for SUCH a long time. I wasn’t sure if I would actually used it. I asked people who currently have standing desks whether they liked it. I read all the different reviews available. I was on Tiktok trying to find out which one was the most aesthetic.
Overall, I definitely took my time to decide on the best course of action here.
Even though I still had my doubts, I continued on with my purchase. On the Uplift website you’re able to actually design the right set up for you. There are different models and wood options.
It is definitely an investment. Mine was pretty pricey. I never thought that I would invest that much on a desk.
The Uplift Standing Desk is the the ultimate must have for home office set ups.
I’m able to stand up when I need to instead of having to sit down. I’m able to use a desk treadmill if I so decide. Even if I just want to stretch out a little bit, it just helps so much. Even for my mental health.
Highly highly recommend this one. It hasn’t given me any issues (knock on wood) since I purchased it. It’s sturdy. It’s customizable according to your needs. I would give this all the stars in the world.
Available from Amazon and UpliftDesk.
A COMFY CHAIR
The criss cross chair went viral in 2023. I definitely fed into the hype because I just love being comfy. It makes sense for me to want this chair and I had to purchase this.
When I think of must haves for the home office, I think about items that have changed my life for the better on pretty much a daily basis. A criss cross chair just allows me to sit in different positions.
Now I can’t really say how ergonomic this is. It does make me feel better throughout the day though, which essentially is an important aspect for me.
One thing to note though is that it doesn’t have wheels. That was a big adjustment for me at first. I liked being able to move around. After a while, I didn’t really mind it because I started using my desk treadmill in conjunction to my standing desk and I didn’t need the wheels to move around so much.
There are different versions of the criss cross chair now, available on different websites. The one that I have is from Amazon, it’s a leather office chair. It is actually labelled as ergonomic, which makes sense to me. There are also various other options from Wayfair and Amazon, coming in different styles that may suit your lifestyle better.
Available from Amazon and Wayfair.
A DESK TREADMILL
A desk treadmill is so life changing. A desk treadmill in conjunction with a standing desk is a match made in heaven. I would argue that the combination of both are the ultimate must haves for the home office.
This is the specific under desk treadmill that I have. I’ve had no issues about this treadmill. It’s super helpful to meet my 10K steps that I try to meet every single day.
It can be hard to meet 10K steps when you work from home, but this definitely makes like ten times easier. It is light enough that I can drag it to the living room if I want to watch television and walk. I can move it around easily.
It comes with a remote that controls the speed, which is super helpful of course.
Available from Amazon.
OVERALL
Working from home can definitely be taxing. With these must haves for home office setups, you have a greater chance of surviving not only the work day, but also the work week. If I had to pick just one, it would have to be the standing desk, but I highly recommend all three on this list.
What are your must haves for your work from home set up? I would love to try more.
