I wanted the try the Kosas DreamBeam since I just finished my La Roche-Posay Athelios Ultra Light Fluid Sunscreen. I don’t typically like mineral sunscreens. Or maybe it’s more like mineral sunscreens don’t like me. A lot of mineral sunscreens that I have used typically give a really bad white cast and take approximately three business days to apply completely. Since a lot of people were asking about the Kosas DreamBeam, I decided I should take the time to try it out.
FIRST, AN ANTHELIOS EMPTY
Before diving into the Kosas DreamBeam, I wanted to briefly talk about my recent empty. I finally finished the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra Light Facial Sunscreen. I made an initial review on the sunscreen, but I find that to get a better idea of how a sunscreen works for you, emptying it is the best way. I generally like this sunscreen. It’s a hybrid sunscreen with both mineral and chemical filters.
I personally love chemical sunscreens just for the way that they blend into the skin and the application is a lot more enjoyable. With the Anthelios Sunscreen being a hybrid, it does have that light texture that is easily blendable to the skin. It also didn’t have any issues with layering under makeup.
On the other hand, the biggest gripe I have with this sunscreen is the way that it stings my eyes if it even gets a little bit watery. It stings to the point that I have to close my eyes for extended periods of time. Now if you don’t have sensitive eyes, then I definitely wouldn’t worry about this part and still purchase it. BUT if you’re even worried about it, then I would just pass.
Available for $32.99 at La Roche-Posay, Amazon, and Ulta.
KOSAS DREAMBEAM FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Now to the main product, the Kosas DreamBeam SPF40 PA++++. The Kosas DreamBeam is a mineral spf with allantoin, peptides, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid. It is advertised as an SPF that can also be used as a makeup prep. It is also non-comedogenic and non-acnegenic. It really sounds super promising.
The first time I used it, I was a little scared that it was going to be like the Saie Sunvisor. For reference, I’m not really the biggest fan of the Saie Sunvisor.
I was really pleasantly surprised though, it actually blended in pretty easily. I did use it as a reapplication so I still wasn’t sure of the application. A couple of days in I’m still pleasantly surprised.
It doesn’t have that milky, lightweight feel of the Tocobo Bio Watery Suncream or the viral Beauty of Joseon sunscreen, but if you’re looking for a mineral sunscreen, this is by far my favorite one so far.
There are mixed reviews on this sunscreen. Some people experienced heightened oiliness when it comes to using this. I have oily skin and so far, I haven’t experienced it. I haven’t tested this out in extreme heat, so I’ll get another extended review once I’ve tested it fully.
Available for $40 at Kosas and Sephora.
OVERALL
Overall, I think that the Kosas DreamBeam is a great mineral sunscreen so far. I typically like giving my full review once I finish the product, but at the moment, I am actually enjoying using it, which is truly a first for a strictly mineral sunscreen.
Will it replace my chemical sunscreens? I don’t think so, but for individuals who want to strictly use mineral sunscreens and haven’t found a good option, I think this would be a great one.
Currently, my favorite sunscreen I’ve tried so far is the Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen. The Roundlab sunscreen is the best in terms of consistency and application. Other options include the Tocobo and Beauty of Joseon Sunscreen.
Is there a sunscreen that you would like me to try out?
