My experience with the dp Hue Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse Lite is not what what I expected. Spoiler Alert: It did not work for my oily, color-treated hair.
The Story with dp Hue
Dp Hue is a brand that I discovered in an Influenster voxbox in exchange for an honest review. Prior to that voxbox, I have actually never heard of the brand or seen any of their marketing prior.
It was founded by Donna Pohlad in response to her frustration with dealing with her grey hair. She created the company in cooperation with colorist Justin Anderson. The products are available at Ulta, Sephora, and their website.
Most of their products actually have really great reviews on various platforms. The product formulation for their line sounds really promising.
dp Hue ACV Rinse Lite
It is a hair shampoo substitute formulated to not strip the hair, but instead highlight it. It is made to keep the color on your hair instead of down the drain. The product is designed so that individuals are able to use it as much as they want, even daily if preferred.
It can also balance the scalp’s pH balance and sooth irritated scalp, while increasing shine and reducing frizz.
There are actually two different formulations of this product, the normal ACV Rinse and the ACV Rinse Lite.
3 Reasons to Why I don’t think the Rinse worked for me
- My hair is technically in between fine and medium hair. The rinse is designed for more fine hair.
- My hair is extremely oily, which I’m still trying to train to not produce as much oil. I tried the product two ways. First, I tried the product with my normal routine. I used my hair oil, used the hair rinse, used conditioner. My hair was so oily afterwards that I couldn’t do anything else with my hair besides put it up. Then, I tried it by itself, no conditioner. My hair was not as oily, but I still couldn’t do anything else with it.
- I had just had a tone. The product is supposed to be safe for color-treated hair, but I just had my hair toned within the same month. I had my colorist use mushroom brown because it’s my favorite, and well basically, it is back to the blonde from before now, maybe even lighter.
Last Thoughts
I think that this product is highly innovative. I’ve never heard of a shampoo replacement before I tested this product out besides organic products. If I didn’t have a tone lately, I wouldn’t be as upset being upside down on my tone. It is definitely a small price to pay to get to test out products.
I think I still would like to try out the original version of the ACV Rinse. It might work better for me since I have medium hair.
My Favorite Hair Product
I wanted to end on a positive note so I wanted to highlight a brand and product that has completely transformed my hair. I normally have really broken and brittle hair. I talked about my favorite hair care product on my Instagram. It is definitely something I enjoyed discovering in this journey.
I discovered the Malaya Organics Hair Oil from the Nourish Beauty Box when they reached out with me to collaborate for a post. They gave me a box and there I found the Malaya Organics Hair Oil.
I tested out the Hair Oil and I was super excited about the almost immediate difference my hair felt right after. The hair oil highlights avocado oil and argan oil. At first, I wasn’t really that excited since I have tried out argan oil on my hair before without results, but THIS. I think it may be a Holy Grail Product for me.
